Glitterer, the Washington, D.C., post-hardcore band, has a new record, its fourth full-length album. It’s called erer and it’s on Purple Circle Records, a little label that singer/bassist Ned Russin co-owns. Performed by a revamped lineup — drummer Robin Zeijlon and guitarist Colin Gorman came on board last year, joining singer/bassist Ned Russin and keyboardist Nicole Dao — and recorded by the prolific producer/engineer Arthur Rizk, who has worked on every Glittererer release since 2019, erer is the most thematically urgent work the band has produced to date. It’s also the most immediately and sustainedly ear-pleasing.Paradigmatically, the lead single, “Stainless Steel,” booms Albini-like with sturdy yet subtle drumming, massive stereo guitars, and all manner of counterpoints and complements emanating from the keyboard, in support of a melody — a classic Glitterer melody — that twists and turns, starts and stops, and goes exactly where the listener didn’t remotely realize it needed to go. And in Russin’s typically sapient lyrics we hear, without superfluity or mawkishness, the bewilderment, resignation, anger, guilt, and stubborn commitment to beauty and community that the album exists to express. It’s the dialectical inner monologue of a socially engaged, intellectually curious creative aspirant — a person not unlike yourself — who can’t help but notice that it’s all coming to nothing. “It’s everywhere I turn / I can’t escape / I wish I had ability innate / I wish I wasn’t incapacitated,” Russin sings. ““I’ll pretend that I’m stainless steel / I’ll forget that this all is real.”&nbsp; What more needs to be said?These are not optimistic times, and this is not, at the textual level, an optimistic record. See for yourself:From “Until”: “There is nothing you can’t have / Don’t be afraid to reach and grab / Take and take with no regret / See if you can find the end / There is always more / Until there’s not”From “Not Forever”: “Arc of progress bend towards me … / Have I grown complacent / After all? … / Self absorbed and so important / Aren’t we all? / Everything and everybody / Individual”And yet, insofar as the lyrics refuse to put any kind of gloss on the emotional truth of the current moment, the music on erer dedicates itself, with intricacy and care, to the listener. A band that wanted only to aggrandize its own precious feelings of alienation wouldn’t go to the trouble of writing choruses and solos as powerful and effective as these. Ever since Glitterer began, in 2017, when Ned Russin began inconspicuously recording and releasing songs out of his New York apartment — short, spooky synth/drum-machine-based existential ditties that made your toe tap and your skin crawl — the songs have reliably gotten brighter, crunchier, catchier, and less ambivalent about their own charms. In this regard, Glitterer’s erer is something of an apotheosis, a record that says, Yes, the world-at-large is miserable and dissolute, but music is eternal and beautiful, and can’t be taken away from us so long as we continue to play it. So that’s what we’re going to do. We have to.

Despite its title, Ratboys’ new album Singin’ to an Empty Chair is not defined by what’s missing. Rather, it’s the beginning of an important dialogue with a close loved one vocalist Julia Steiner finds herself estranged from. The music on the band’s sixth studio album – its first for New West Records – fills the space that person left behind with 11 songs showcasing Ratboys at the peak of their powers — twangy, effervescent, as confident as they’ve ever been, and perhaps more emotionally interrogative than ever before. The four-piece Chicago band followed up 2023’s highly acclaimed The Window by reconvening with co-producer Chris Walla to begin tracking at a rural Wisconsin cabin before taking the songs to Steve Albini’s famed Electrical Audio studios in Chicago and later to Rosebud Studio in Evanston, Illinois. The results veer from bubbly power-pop on “Anywhere” to irresistible post-country on “Penny in the Lake,” along with heart-piercing ballads like “Just Want You to Know the Truth” and an exhilarating detour into the extraterrestrial on “Light Night Mountains All That,” which Steiner dubs the band’s mammoth “wormhole jam.” Singin’ to an Empty Chair also marks the first Ratboys album written since Steiner began therapy, which the singer/lyricist credits for the clarity found across the album’s unflinching examinations of relationship and self. Fittingly, as the album begins by extending a hand into the void, it concludes with a scene of serenity – all while weaving candid honesty, humor, chaos, and whimsy along the way. “It's not all doom and gloom,” Steiner says. “The experience of making this record definitely gives me hope for whatever happens next.”

Julianna Barwick and Mary Lattimore, two of contemporary music’s most celebrated composers, come together for a unique show and album collaboration, TRAGIC MAGIC, in partnership with the Philharmonie de Paris. With extraordinary access to the Musée de la Musique’s instrument collection, the album, due January 2026 via French label InFiné, features seven immersive, evocative compositions guided by the human spirit – intimate, grounded in friendship, both earthly and cosmic – and part of a greater continuum, reflecting the solace and transformative power of artistry across generations. Co-produced by Trevor Spencer (Fleet Foxes, Beach House), TRAGIC MAGIC was created in just nine days, a testament to the “musical telepathy” that has developed between Barwick and Lattimore over years of touring and friendship. Arriving in Paris from Los Angeles shortly after the 2025 wildfires, their sessions combined improvisation with the emotions and experiences they carried, in a setting both inspiring and deeply supportive. Lattimore selected harps tracing the instrument’s evolution from 1728 to 1873, while Barwick chose several iconic analog synthesizers, including the Roland JUPITER and Sequential Circuits PROPHET-5. In freeform dialogue between voice and instrument, they create a meditation on tragedy, wonder, and the restorative power of shared experience.

Trying Not to Have a Thought, out September 12 via Saddle Creek, isn’t just Algernon Cadwallader’s first album since 2011’s Parrot Flies, it’s their first with the original lineup since 2008’s Some Kind of Cadwallader. Shortly after that debut, drummer Nick Tazza and guitarist Colin Mahony departed; Algernon broke up in 2012 and stayed dormant until their feverishly anticipated 2022 reunion. “There’s a certain magic to this original form,” says vocalist-bassist Peter Helmis. No one expected new music, but as they rehearsed, ideas emerged, and the seeds of Trying Not to Have a Thought took root. “I’m kind of hearing in my head what this person’s already doing,” recalls guitarist Joe Reinhart of their rekindled chemistry. Written across two retreats, Washington’s Snoqualmie and Pennsylvania’s Poconos, the album was tracked at Pachyderm Studios and Reinhart’s Headroom in Philadelphia. Rather than sounding forced, it’s warm, lively, and effortlessly hooky. Fans will recognize Algernon’s DNA, yet the record feels uncoupled from trends: “Joan of Arc and Pavement in a blender is where we end up,” Reinhart jokes. Lyrically, Helmis moves from abstract prose to explicit themes: grief (“Hawk”), protest (“Revelation 420”), capitalism’s failures (“Million Dollars”), and the MOVE 9 tragedy (“Attn MOVE”). The title reflects resisting mental overload amid chaos—and the band’s instinctive bond. “This is just what comes out of us when these four people get in a room,” Helmis says.

Steve Gunn has been at the vanguard of American experimental / guitar-oriented rock music for over a decade. After a trio of acclaimed albums recorded for Matador, Gunn will release his 7th studio record – and first in 4 years – on November 7th. With Daylight, Daylight, Gunn wanted to capture something of the intimacy of playing solo, the sense of possibility and discovery that sparks when he sits down to write, while also creating a rich sonic world for the listener to inhabit. Rather than pulling together a band to flesh the songs out, as he’s done on previous albums, he enlisted a single primary collaborator: producer James Elkington, an old friend and longtime collaborator (who also produced Gunn’s 2019 album The Unseen In Between). Elkington is known as a guitarist, but Gunn asked him to contribute arrangements of strings and woodwinds, inspired in part by the music they’ve talked about over the years (ie. Mark Hollis, Ennio Morricone, The Fall, Basil Kirchin) and the evolution of their own relationship making records - both together, and with others. They soon found a fruitful working process for Daylight Daylight: Gunn would record solo demos and send them to Elkington, who had free rein to develop the arrangements on his own. Working primarily out of Elkington’s Nada Studios in Chicago, they would continue adding from there—a whisper of a synthesizer, a guitar overdub, a muted percussion line—but they were committed to the relative spareness of their initial approach. Macie Stewart (violins and viola), Ben Whiteley (cellos), Nick Macri (upright bass) and Hunter Diamond (woodwinds) also contributed.

Jens Lekman is an accidental wedding singer. But he’s also a wedding singer for a reason. Ever since his 2004 song “If You Ever Need a Stranger (To Sing at Your Wedding)” he has had a side gig fielding requests from strangers to sing at their weddings. For over twenty years, he’s had a particular vantage point from which to see the role love songs can play in our lives. In 2020, he and novelist David Levithan co-conceived a novel-with-music, Songs from Other People’s Weddings. Originally this album was meant to contain the songs from the weddings in the book, but as the novel came together, Lekman began to imagine what happened between the book’s chapters. The book and the album eventually became intertwined but also found their own paths. The book remained the structure of the story, but the album sometimes snuck behind the scenes. Stories from the songs made their way into the book and vice versa. The result is an exploration of what we sing about when we sing about love -- euphoria, doubt, dislocation, tenderness, conflict, playfulness, gratitude, ingratitude, longing, belonging, questioning, answering. It’s very much about a relationship and how it’s reflected through the relationships and weddings of others, but most of all it’s a lovesong to lovesongs.

English rock band Band of Skulls, formed in Southampton in 2004. The original lineup consisted of Russell Marsden (guitar, vocals), Emma Richardson (bass, vocals), and Matt Hayward (drums). Initially performing under the name Fleeing New York, the trio eventually rebranded as Band of Skulls in 2008, marking the beginning of their rise on the indie rock scene. Band of Skulls released their debut album, "Baby Darling Doll Face Honey,” an incredible fifteen years ago in 2009. The album was a blend of blues rock, garage rock, and indie influences, featuring standout tracks like "I Know What I Am" and "Death by Diamonds and Pearls." The gritty guitar riffs, dual vocal harmonies, and raw energy of the album earned the band critical acclaim and a growing fanbase. Their music was featured in TV shows, movies, and video games, further amplifying their presence and significantly broadening their fan base. In 2012, Band of Skulls followed up “….Doll Face…” with "Sweet Sour." Marking their breakthrough back in the UK, this album showcased a more polished and mature sound while retaining their signature intensity. The title track "Sweet Sour" and songs like "The Devil Takes Care of His Own" highlighted the band's dynamic range and songwriting prowess. The album received very positive reviews and solidified Band of Skulls' position in the alternative rock landscape internationally. Their relentless touring alongside some of the biggest bands in the world including Muse , Queens Of The Stone Age, The Red Hot Chilli Peppers and significantly, The Black Keys in both the US and UK, continued to attract a new audience whilst also seeing them make their first appearance on The David Letterman Show. "Himalayan," the band's third album celebrates its tenth anniversary this year having arrived in 2014, and it marked a significant evolution in their sound. Produced by Nick Launay (Nick Cave &amp; The Bad Seeds, Yeah Yeah Yeahʼs, Arcade Fire), the album featured a mix of hard-hitting rock anthems and more experimental tracks. Songs like "Asleep at the Wheel" and "Hoochie Coochie" displayed their ability to craft infectious hooks while maintaining their rock edge. "Himalayan" was well-received by critics and fans alike. Glastonbury beckoned that year reinforcing the band's reputation for delivering powerful performances with a distinctive edge whilst also attracting an invitation to play on the BBCʼs Jools Hollands ʼs Later TV show. In recent years, Band of Skulls have continued to evolve and experiment with their sound, releasing several more albums and maintaining a strong presence both live and through the continued use of their well crafted songs across film and TV. Early this year the band performed a homecoming show in Southampton, celebrating their journey and connection to their roots showcasing the band's enduring appeal and energy. Marsden introduced a new line up and took the opportunity to hint at the new material to come in 2025. He also gave the gathered fans early news of an imminent box set which will tell the story of those first three records through a deluxe book and vinyl offering which will include sought after tracks, demos and b-sides as well as an unprecedented look into his personal archive of the band's history, including many never seen before photos and memorabilia. Band of Skulls' career has been marked by a consistent dedication to their craft and an ability to innovate within the rock genre. With their first three albums, "Baby Darling Doll Face Honey," "Sweet Sour," and "Himalayan," they established themselves as a force in the indie rock world and continue to captivate audiences and solidify their legacy as a dynamic and influential rock band.

Over the course of those releases, Bogues has been able to play with bands like Dashboard Confessional, Delta Sleep, Homesafe, Youth Fountain and more.ROBINSON EARLE Robinson Earle is the frontman of The River Otters, a Post-Folk trio from the Carolina Piedmont. His songs combine poetic lyricism with instrumental virtuosity. His slide guitar playing conjures woodland&nbsp;spirits.

Forming in New Brunswick in the Fall of 2016, Flycatcher began crafting dynamic songs centered around crushing swells of jagged guitar-hooks, propulsive drumming, and deftly emotive lyrics. Following a period of extensive gigging and writing through 2018, the band teamed up with Kyle Pulley of Thin Lips to produce the high-energy, kaleidoscopic textures of their debut album, Other Things.Shortly after the release, the band joined Joe Webster at PonderRosa Studios to begin work on their follow-up record. Released in Summer 2019, the driving, angular melancholy of ‘Songs for Strangers’ saw Flycatcher and develop their song-craft through cohesive arrangements, vulnerable, immersive lyrics.After a sold-out show at the Asbury Park Brewery and a cross-country tour promoting the release, the band took a short hiatus, but they are back and performing non-stop.

When you hear Marielle Kraft’s music or experience her candid live shows, you feel as though you already know her. The indie pop singer/songwriter, now based in Nashville, displays craftsmanship beyond her years, following suit to artists like Colbie Caillat, Maisie Peters, and Taylor Swift. Self-taught, the Rhode Island native began playing guitar at 16 and soon writing songs that strike chords with listeners everywhere. Her gift for storytelling is evident through her use of salient detail, raw emotion, and poignant word choice to describe moments “exactly as they feel.” In spring 2018, she was crowned Grand Champion of the Mid-Atlantic Singer-Songwriter Competition, and the following June she delivered a Tedx Talk at Firefly 2018, discussing the importance of honesty rooted in her songwriting process. Marielle Kraft’s debut studio EP, “The Deep End” landed on July 12th, 2019, featuring fan-favorite tracks like “Toothbrush” and “Better Without You”. Kraft’s first effort is, as described by The Music Mermaid, “song after song of mini pop addictions.” In February 2020, Kraft co-released an “anthemic” and “heart-filled” single with Joshua Howard entitled “In It Together”, which quickly gained support across platforms as an anthem of connection amidst a chapter of isolation during quarantine. Marielle Kraft regularly plays at venues across the United States, sharing stages with names like Mt. Joy, GIRLI, and Amber Liu. She presents her live shows as a seamless narrative: evocative yet encouraging, deeply reflective yet refreshing. The raw authenticity with which Marielle invites listeners into her story cultivates a relationship with them beyond the song, as she is known to “bring together a room full of strangers.” Her “winning personality,” “genuine connection",” and “gift for story telling” on stage have fueled the ever-growing crowds at each of her shows. In 2021, Marielle Kraft released 4 singles, each of which found major traction on TikTok before becoming studio produced releases. “Everyone But Me” (February 19th), “We Were Never Friends” (March 24th), and “Second Coffee” (July 19th) feature a more developed sound than seen from Marielle before, while her collaboration with Charlie Brennan called “Sidelines” (October 29th) landed on Spotify’s “Fresh Finds” and Apple Music’s “Breaking Singer/Songwriter” playlists. Kraft’s sophomore EP “Heartspace” released on September 30th, 2022 followed by two powerhouse pop singles “Owe My Ex” and “10x Better,” which fueled a nearly sold-out headlining tour across the United States. October 27th, 2023 brought the latest offering from Kraft—an evolved EP of 4 songs, tied together as the concept project called “GOOD.” Co-produced with Nashville’s Quinn Redmond [Stephen Day, Emma Klein], GOOD marks an exciting new chapter for Kraft as she stretches her reach to opposite coasts and wider corners of the internet. Since leaving her full-time teaching career to pursue a life committed to creating music, Marielle Kraft has spent the last two years crafting a debut album that has promise to cement the burgeoning artist as a mainstay in the indie pop scene, setting her on pace for an even bigger 2025.

Born right outside of Chicago, Otis Ghost has toured the US countless times. He has performed for the likes of Mobb Deep, Cappadonna and Inspectah Deck (of Wu-Tang Clan), Slick Rick and Rakim, to name a few. Since relocating to Durham in 2019, he has continued to play locally and nationwide. His latest release, “I miss you. Behave, and I’ll be back soon” is available on all major platforms.

There’s something kinda magical about naming your band saturdays at your place. Right off the bat, it calls to mind images of collapsing onto a friend’s couch at the end of a long week, and the kind of nights that turn into stories you’ll tell for years to come. For the band from Kalamazoo, Michigan, it’s more than just a name; it’s what’s held them together through college and the strange process of becoming an adult. Whether unpacking tour burnout or the shame of outgrowing your past, they’re constantly rejecting irony in favor of something much bolder: sincerity. On their upcoming second full-length, these things happen (out September 12), saturdays at your place take everything that made their early material resonate—twinkly guitars, heart-on-sleeve songwriting, a distinctly Midwestern ache—and stretch it into something even more resonant. It’s a record about growing up without growing cold, and it’s also a testament to where they’re from, both literally and musically; proof that a band with strong hometown roots can still shake the ground. Formed by three friends who met at Western Michigan University, the band—Esden Stafne (vocals/bass), Gabe Wood (vocals/drums), and Mitch Gulish (guitar)—have always used music as a way to map the wretched trajectory of growing up. But on these things happen, they’ve stopped asking for directions and started finding their own way through the chaos. The result is a heartfelt, emotionally chaotic and self-aware glimpse at adulthood in all its many complexities. A lot of inspiration for the record came from Paul Thomas Anderson’s 1999 film, Magnolia. In the movie, strangers' lives collide in a grand way, for no reason. There’s no greater meaning to unfold, just happenstance, and similarly, the album doesn’t offer listeners any new information on what to do once you’ve ascended into adulthood; it simply provides a more relatable cushion. Channeling the gut-punch angst of bands like Modern Baseball and Hot Mulligan, lead single “waste away” is a standout moment about both wishing you were dead AND remembering how much fun life can be, too. Elsewhere, “what am I supposed to do?” finds the band reflecting on individuality and people-pleasing; and “I’d rather be in michigan” is an attempt to capture the struggle of finding stability amidst a nonstop tour cycle. Then there’s the gut-wrenching closing track, “i give in.” A cinematic portrayal of codependency and trauma, it wraps the album in a sort of quiet comfort, one that comes to terms with the shared weight of what we all carry in our day-to-day lives. “I wanted to write that song for a long time,” Gabe says. “I’ve never felt like I was the right person to offer any sort of unique perspective on that kind of situation, I really didn’t want to get it wrong. But being open and honest about it is actually what I needed to finally let go and forgive and move on.” The hype for saturdays at your place first kicked off with their 2023 EP, always cloudy, and has since blossomed into a steadily-building wave of momentum. “tarot cards” instantly had fans on the hook with its undeniable melody and quirky pronunciation, but the entire record has since gone on to cement their place as one of the most exciting modern emo bands around. And while always cloudy was a strong introduction, these things happen marks a decidedly more introspective future for saturdays at your place; it’s also the first music they’ve released since 2023. Overall, these things happen isn’t an album that provides many answers. Instead, it’s a cathartic companion to survival with friends at your side, gear in the trailer, and enough hope to keep showing up. For saturdays at your place, that’s enough.

Born of navel-gazing self-indulgence and vague ambition, Erie Choir began at the dawn of the new millennium as the solo/acoustic/folk singing sort-of-thing of Sorry About Dresden’s Eric Roehrig. The now long standing lineup of Roehrig, fellow Sorry About Dresden alumnus James Hepler, Bob Wall, and Jack Watson, along with recent addition, Ben Spiker, has since evolved into a mix of indie rock, americana, power pop,and the occasional extended choogle. Their third album, Golden Reviser, scheduled for release on November 7th on Potluck Foundation, dabbles in all these subgenres and more, and is the band’s most ambitious work yet. Golden Reviser deals with the weight of history, personal and otherwise — the way we grapple with our past and loss, how nostalgia can sanitize our memories, and the unsettling feeling that arises when your “tortured youth is now called a golden age” as Roehrig sings in “It’s So Strange.” Sonically, the album wanders from acoustic Neil Youngian laments to Replacement-esque rave ups, soft rock cosplay to unironic, heart-on-your-sleeve anthems. The band is aided by cameos from Tim Kasher (Cursive, The Good Life), Greg Humphreys (Dillon Fence, Hobex),&nbsp; Sara Bell (Shark Quest, Lud), Reid Johnson (Schooner),and Joshua Carpenter (Carpenter/Cohen) and was recorded by local stalwart Jerry Kee.After a pair of self-released EP’s in the early 2000s, Sit-n-Spin Records released Slighter Awake in 2006, which Pop Matters called “crisp, clean, indie rock with a folk-pop flavor.” The recording of the follow up, Old Rigs, began in 2011, but wasn’t completed and released until November 2017. Nonetheless, the Big Takeover declared it “worth the wait”, describing Roehrig as “an American Graham Parker.“ Three years later, they released the Starlight Veins EP, which the Indy Weekly called "feelgood music for pessimists, summer jams for introverts," describing the EP closer "Night Junction" as "punked-up Springsteen." 2022 saw the release of Bad Tsars Was a Drag, an odds n’ sods compilation of the band's output from the early 2000s that had previously only been available on homemade, burned CD-Rs or compilation albums with limited distribution that The Big Takeover noted was ”surprisingly, given such excess, …consistently strong throughout.”While the band’s output over its two decades’ existence would never be called prolific, Erie Choir has persisted, and continues to make music guided solely by their own artistic impulses. Golden Reviser represents the next step forward in their continued, albeit unhurried, evolution.

Joyer formed in New Jersey in 2017, and after releasing two self-recorded demo collections, they released their first studio album, Sun Into Flies, in 2020, followed by Perfect Gray in 2021. Now based in Brooklyn and Philadelphia, the duo of multi-instrumentalist brothers Nick and Shane Sullivan are constantly evolving their sound. Their latest album, Night Songs, examines the allure of night and its ability to shapeshift from a mirror for our innermost demons to a shield from the demands of daily drudgery. It marks a departure from their hushed slowcore beginnings and displays a more expansive sound—from blowtorched shoegaze guitars and poppier vocals to melancholy synths and pastoral lap steel. Fittingly, their detour into twistier, heavier territory coincides with the depraved nature of nighttime activities, and their foray into a more hi-fi, pop-forward direction aligns with the stark clarity that pitch-black skies provide. Their devilish distortion also functions as a cathartic foil to their quiet, real-life demeanors, and was informed by their live shows, which increasingly featured gnarlier versions of past Joyer songs. Following the success of Night Songs the band has embarked on various country-wide tours, sharing bills with other up-and-coming acts as well as prominent indie rock artists such as Wishy, Feeble Little Horse, Horse Jumper of Love, Lowertown, and Babehoven.

On stage, his electrifying presence amplifies these contrasts, creating an experience that is both dynamic and deeply intimate. Luca returned home to find Trevor, a new addition to the friend group, dating his ex-girlfriend. “Luca and I didn’t like each other at all,” Trevor recalls. “He was the ex-boyfriend, I was the new boyfriend, and we both had the same hair.” Over time, a shared romanticism and passion for art forced the two together and the three friends began recording music in a cramped apartment. Nodding to inspirations such as The 1975 &amp; Big Thief, they approached their artistry from a boundless perspective. Sharing independent singles such as “Spaced Out,” Pretty Jane began to rise with fervent support in the underground. They further fostered a tight knit relationship with the scene through incendiary basement gigs, food fights with their fans, and crowd-surfing without fail at every show. They made waves with the breakout “Too Few Tattoos,” reeling in 7.8 million Spotify streams. A1234 hailed it as “an anthem that fits perfectly in a hangover recovery playlist, and equally so in a reflective morning playlist.” They maintained this momentum with the likes of “Shotgun Wedding,” “Fur Coats,” and “under your tongue.” Of the latter, SHEESH praised, “It personifies an emotion that only abrasive guitar tones can correctly convey, and with this single I can see a real maturation in their music." Living in the same house since their move to Nashville, they continue this reach in close quarters. “Pretty Jane is like one living and breathing organism that fluidly ties us all together,” Luca concludes. “We aren’t doing this half-assed. BIRTH + EVOLUTION.................Around the time that Mission Of Burma was winding down it's 13 year reunion run[?!!], I started to do 8-track bedroom recordings, mostly angular instrumentals with bass/drum loops and ghostly samples. That became the first Minibeast LP, Look, Don’t Look. The first group put together to play this stuff live were great players from my new adopted home [providence,r.i.], but the group was not jelling yet............so we disbanded and I recorded another solo minibeaster, Free Will. The first one was a blueprint and this was more hi-fi and thought out. another live version popped up that had some mojo [Adam Autry and Eric Baylies].........when Adam left, i stumbled into percussion monster, keith seidel, who i play with to this day. he was lured in by me name dropping names like fela, public image and the stooges. eric,keith and i recorded 2 full length records called ISM Volume Silver and ISM Volume Gold. the material was super rhythmic and wild, the sound kinda murky.increased touring,opening for post punk heroes like wire,gang of 4,and mike watt.eric left,enter neils la white, who riveted his minimalist bass throbs into the sound with amazing force. This led to On Ice, a stretched out 2 record set that sounded and felt just right. Drummer, Keith, is a graphic illustrator and has done most of the cover art since isms. we invited killer saxmen, russ gershon and dana colley, to add psycho sax sounds to On Ice, as well as new sounds and production help from an amazing engineer, guitarist and producer by the name of pete weiss. last year, we slowly but surely plowed through our newest record, The Maze Of Now, finished and released in January 2025................this year, Neils moved on and Pete Weiss moved in on his original instrument, bass guitar………and this is where we are at-solid as a throbbing rock.......................................a few notes about the minibeast modus operandi-we never play the same set the same way twice...............songs vary in length................i "play" guitar,keys,samples and voice...in my way.......................we do not believe live music should be a static experience. it should be celebratory,absurd,unpredicable and transcendent and we do everything we can do keep it that way.........the name comes from my nickname for our black cat, buddy. he observes quietly, but struts around like he is a lot bigger than he is. take that as you will!......................peter prescott.........................
