<h1>Audacious Creations: How to Create Black Art for Joy and Resistance #1 of 3 in The Legacy of Toni Cade Bambara Film and Workshop Series</h1>Black Film. Black Art. Black Creations. Black Communion.Come feed your mind, body and soul$0 - $20 In the Legacy of Toni Cade Bambara Film Screenings and Workshop Series promises to be a gathering for Black folks by Black folks to commune, engage critically with Black film and art, create, connect, converse, and dream. Once a month from September - November we are recreating the intimate living room gatherings TCB held in her home in Atlanta where new worlds and ideas with new people were possible. Each screening will include a workshop, a discussion and food to share. We will feed you. We will host you. We will make you think. All while engaging in a Blackity Black space made by us to celebrate us. All Black ethnicities are welcomed and encouraged to attend.September's offering will include:Workshop - Songwriting facilitated by Kai Swivel Film - A Band Called DeathFood - a local Black owned vendorOrder of events:4pm - 5pm - Songwriting and Zine Workshops5:15 - 6pm - Eat &amp; Commune6pm - 8pm - Film, Intermission, &amp; DiscussionAccessibility note:The Northrup King Building is technically wheelchair accessible, but in a poorly designed way. In order to enter while in a wheelchair you must use the ramp to enter the Northrup King building's main door. The ramp is located at the far end of the parking in front of the building, directly opposite where the handicap parking spot is located. Once in the building you will take the elevator to floor 2 and follow the signs to navigate to Studio #247.To enter the building using Public Functionary's entrance you must be able to step up 2 concrete steps about 4-5 inches in height. Once in the doors you have the option of getting to Studio #247 on the second floor using the freight elevator OR by walking up two flights of stairs. Please let In the Legacy of TCB volunteers know if you need support entering the space. We are working to secure copies of the film that include captions. *********In the Legacy of TCB is a self-funded, grassroots effort curated by brilyahnt (b), Yordi Solomone in collaboration with TDM5 and other local artists/organizations. b and yordi are two regular people spearheading this effort who love film and are interested in creating an experimental event that center connection and possibilities. All funds will go to covering facilitator expenses, food and other related event costs. No one will be turned away for lack of funds. We will show episodes of the BBC series Mr. Loverman which explores the complexities of living as a closeted, elderly Black gay immigrant man in modern day Britain. We will show the 1970s film The Spook Who Sat by the Door a fictionalized take what would happen if a radical Black man successfully infiltrated the CIA and shared its tools with the hood.
