Jazz guitarist John Hart is a longtime fixture on the New York jazz scene, and a well-known graduate and lecturer at UM’s Frost School of Music. A versatile guitarist and bandleader, Hart has released eight CDs on prestigious labels including Blue Note and Concord and has appeared on more than 100 recordings.&nbsp;He has performed and recorded with jazz greats including Jimmy Smith, James Moody, Jon Hendricks, Brian Blade, Chris Potter, and the Maria Schneider Orchestra, with whom he has played for 20 years. Hart has also headlined major jazz festivals worldwide, including Montreux, Edinburgh, Vancouver, and Victoria.&nbsp;John has released eight CDs as bandleader on such prestigious labels as Blue Note and Concord and has appeared on over 100 CDs as a sideman; has released three CDs with the John Hart Trio for Hep Records; and most recently released a jazz organ trio CD on the Index Jazz label.&nbsp;Playing with John at Jazz Encounters are Jake Hart, piano; Steven Kirsty, bass; and Rudy Petschauer, drums.
