Sunbathe is a guitar-pop band from Portland, Oregon, formed in 2015 by songwriter Maggie Morris. Known for her ethereal vocals and introspective songwriting, Morris radiates the smarts and edge of Liz Phair at her anthemic best, but with delicate golden guitar and a glut of catchy harmonies that would make James Mercer shed a little tear. The live band has an exceptional lineup including Adria Ivanitsky, Tyler Figley, and Skyler Hamler. Together, the band has an energetic and joyful presence on stage and a signature sound characterized by shimmering guitars, sweeping melodies, and a deep sense of emotional resonance. In 2022, the band won the Echo Fund Grant, allowing them to continue creating and evolving their sound. The songs are written by Claire Tucker, whom you may recognize as guitarist and vocalist from Seattle psych-gaze mainstays Black Nite Crash. Claire is joined by her husband Jack Peters on bass, and the lineup is filled out by Olie Eshleman (Corespondents, Annie Ford Band, Evening Bell) on pedal steel and guitar, and the truly extraordinary drummer-about-town Aimee Zoe (Harborrats).<hr>What Rob Moura hopes you hear when you press play on his music is a familiar language rendered alien. True to his Seattle-based surroundings, the songs he performs as Armour are verdant and waterlogged, and they move with dark clouds permanently affixed above them.
