&nbsp;&nbsp; TRUE STARS is a 3-piece Alternative Rock/Pop-Punk/Garage Rock band from Bellingham, WA. Consisting of Jody Waymire (Guitar/Vocals), Arnold Gallows (Bass/vocals), and Diane McQuestin (Drums). Their sound is influenced by such bands as the Muffs, Nirvana, Redd Kross, the Brian Jonestown Massacre, Sex Pistols, and Teenage Fanclub; as well as early Punk Rock and 60’s Garage. While wearing their influences on their sleeves, they create their own unique sound combining all the best elements of those bands.&nbsp;&nbsp; Jody and Arnold met while working together in Bellingham and decided to start a band after sharing their mutual love for underground music. After recording a 7-song demo in 2019 in Arnold’s basement titled the “Riot for Me” ep with a drum machine, they were now on the hunt for a drummer. Arnold eventually discovered Diane McQuestin through mutual friends and the band was complete. Having already played with many local Bellingham bands and some great touring artists such as the Meatbodies, Kate Clover, The Spoon Benders, and The Smashing Times under their belt.&nbsp;&nbsp; No stranger to the NW music scene, Jody Waymire got his start playing guitar for Eastern Washington punk legends Moral Crux. Appearing on numerous comps (including PUNK USA on Lookout!) and releasing such classic records as “I Was a Teenage Teenager” and “Something More Dangerous” on Panic Button/Lookout! Records. He toured the USA several times and opened for such artists as Rancid, Stiff Little Fingers, and The Fastbacks. After relocating to Seattle, Jody, now on bass helped form the band The Lashes with his friend Ben Clark. While with the band they released a single on the Sonic Boom label and finally “The Stupid Stupid” ep on Lookout! Records in 2004, before leaving the band to start various solo projects. The Lashes played with several well-known bands including the Strokes, the Libertines, and Superdrag. Jody would later rejoin former Lashes guitarist Eric Howk in 2011 on second guitar in Howk’s own band, Boom City. The band dissolved after Jody moved to Olympia, WA. Eric would go on to play guitar in Grammy award winning band, Portugal the Man. Jody relocated to Bellingham, WA in 2014 where he resides today. Gallows and McQuestin have both played in various Bellingham bands including Cat Bomb and Ibex.&nbsp;&nbsp; In February 2023, TRUE STARS began recording their debut album with artist, Chad Yenney in his basement studio in Wenatchee, WA. The album was released on Oct. 6, 2023 and the band hopes to play as many shows as possible to promote it.
