Preparing your pets early greatly increases the chances of a smooth and successful transition for everyone in your household.For many families, pets are truly the “first baby” and are accustomed to receiving constant attention and affection. The arrival of a newborn naturally changes routines, and pets can sense and react to these shifts. It’s also important to understand that infants appear very different to animals—new sounds, movements, and smells can be unfamiliar and confusing. Even the most loving and well-behaved pets are naturally curious, making thoughtful preparation essential.By participating in this workshop, you’ll learn how to safely desensitize your pet(s), manage interactions, and set healthy boundaries during times when attention or access needs to be limited. You’ll also receive guidance on helping your child grow up pet-friendly, along with many other practical tips. Attendees will receive take-home materials for future reference.According to the CDC, the most vulnerable age for children around dogs is the first 0–6 months of life. Join us on March 15th for a relaxing, fun and sometimes challenging yoga experience designed to help you slow down, de-stress, and reconnect — with yourself and with nature.Led by Michael Doering, who has been practicing yoga for nearly 30 years and teaching for the past 13 years at Metrowest Yoga in Westborough, this class offers a thoughtful balance of gentle flow and steady poses (asanas), always grounded in the rhythm of conscious breath. Michael’s approach emphasizes presence, mindfulness, and moving with intention.Whether you are brand new to yoga or a seasoned practitioner, this class is designed for all levels. Modifications are offered for beginners, while experienced yogis are guided safely into deeper exploration. Michael’s sincere hope is that each participant leaves feeling stronger, refreshed, and carrying a little more peace in their heart.Come breathe, open up, and center yourself in a space dedicated to connection, conservation, and community. Sunday Morning Yoga

Rather than focusing on fear or blame, the program encourages empathy by helping children think about how dogs may feel in everyday situations, such as when a toy or treat is taken from them or when they are awakened while sleeping.Through age-appropriate discussion and activities, children learn how to safely interact with dogs they know as well as dogs they don’t know. The program includes a 12-minute DVD featuring kids talking to kids about pet safety, making the lessons engaging and relatable.

Join us at the EARTH Nature Center on February 18th from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM for a hands-on workshop dedicated to the art of animal enrichment! We’ll be diving into the world of "snuffle mats"—creative, tactile puzzles designed to engage a pet's keen sense of smell and provide essential mental stimulation.During this drop-in session, participants will be provided with all the materials needed to craft their very own snuffle mat to take home. Whether you have a dog, cat, ferret, or even a curious reptile, these mats are a fantastic way to turn mealtime into a rewarding foraging game.<h3>What to Expect:</h3><ul><li>Creative Crafting: Learn how to assemble a high-quality enrichment tool from scratch.</li><li>Flexible Pacing: These mats take time and care to complete! Feel free to stay and craft with us, or collect your materials and instructions to finish your masterpiece at home.</li><li>Skill Level: This program is great for all ages, though children should be old enough to tie basic knots.</li></ul>Note: For the safety of your furry (or scaly) friends, snuffle mats should always be used under owner supervision.

Join us from 11:00 am to 11:45 am for a special Story Time at the EARTH Nature Center&nbsp;with our zookeepers! We’ll read The Reptile Club&nbsp;by Maureen Fergus, a fun and engaging story that celebrates curiosity, inclusion, and a love for reptiles.After the story, children will have the opportunity to meet some of our amazing reptilian animal ambassadors&nbsp;and learn fascinating facts about their habitats, behaviors, and adaptations. This interactive experience encourages early literacy, sparks curiosity about the natural world, and helps children build appreciation for reptiles in a safe and engaging way.Perfect for young animal lovers and budding nature explorers! Targeted for ages 4-8 years old; children must be accompanied by an adult.

Story Time with Animal Ambassadors

Celebrate Valentine’s Day with a lively and entertaining evening dedicated to the birds and the bees! Test your knowledge of the animal kingdom’s fascinating, and often surprising, courtship behaviors, mating rituals, and the nature of love while competing in a themed trivia night for prizes.Light appetizers will be available to enjoy throughout the evening, and beer and wine will be available to purchase.This event also features brief presentations by psychology professor Kathleen Morgan, PhD, and Animal Rescue Rhode Island Humane Education Consultant and Program Manager, Jane Greco Deming.Dinner is not included, so we encourage attendees to make a reservation at Galliford’s&nbsp;Restaurant &amp; Tavern ahead of time to complete the night with a full meal.This event is perfect for couples, friends, and anyone looking for a unique and educational Valentine’s Day experience. Flash Day Event at Heart in Hand Tattoo Studio

Join us for a fun craft session where your child will transform natural items into beautiful, personalized ornaments using air-drying clay. This event is perfectly suited for our youngest nature enthusiasts.&nbsp;🎨 What We'll Be DoingKids will use air-drying clay to create their ornaments using cookie cutters for fun shapes, and they will press real natural treasures—like leaves, pine needles, and pinecones—to make unique textured imprints before adding a final splash of color with paint. The finished ornaments make wonderful keepsakes or gifts and will be ready to take home the same day!
