One of the best Grateful Dead tribute bands in the scene here in the Northeast is coming to legendary Arrowhead Ranch in Parksville NY to get those bones shakin’ before the Jerry Symphonic show happening later in the evening at Bethel Woods. Come break out your rockin’ shoes, shake the hand who shook the hand and be with our tribe.

Come celebrate one of the most historic events in music history on the anniversary of Woodstock in the area where it happened! Guitarist Stanley Jordan has formed a new band called Stanley Plays The Dead. Stanley describes it as “Cosmic viral variations on the music of the Grateful Dead. We're adding more jazz elements, while keeping the original musical feel and the trippy vibe.” Over the last 10 years or so, Stanley has been a frequent guest with Grateful Dead bassist Phil Lesh. Stanley says, “Since I've been playing with Phil a lot of his fans have started coming to my shows. I wanted to reward them with something that I knew they would like. I also wanted to bring new people in to share in the spirit of openness and belongingness that this music brings about.” Here are the band members, all of whom sing as well as play instruments: STANLEY JORDAN was raised in Palo Alto, California—the very city in which the Grateful Dead was formed. In this band he uses his signature tapping style while still paying homage to Jerry Garcia's lilting melodies. Drummer KENWOOD DENNARD is unique among drummers, and he's influenced multiple generations of musicians of all instruments. Bassist GREG KOERNER brings a lifetime of experience playing Grateful Dead music. JESSE HIATT is the band's keyboardist and second guitarist. He brings the blues, African, Brazilian, funk and R&amp;B.World-renowned guitarist Stanley Jordan has developed a new live show called “Stanley Jordan Plays Jimi.” This is a tribute show, but it’s not pure imitation. Instead Stanley builds on Jimi’s legacy in a creative way. As Stanley explains it, “This is my fantasy Jimi Hendrix concert if Jimi were still alive and playing today. By re-imagining his music and channeling his persona I try to bring that fantasy to life.”An important aspect is the embodiment of Jimi’s persona. Stanley actually steps onto the stage as Jimi Hendrix so there is a theatrical element to the show. But this is not a comedic caricature nor is it a theatrical play – it’s a concert. It’s a concert built upon a sincere and heartfelt effort to recreate the jaw-dropping experience of witnessing Jimi Hendrix live while at the same time bringing Jimi’s legacy up to date in a believable way. Wow! Tall order to fill–no? That’s why you need a world-class artist of Stanley Jordan’s caliber to pull it off.This extra touch of portraying the Hendrix of today rather than yesterday keeps the show creative and fresh for both Stanley and the audience and it gives Stanley’s fans a new insight into Stanley’s own evolution. It also makes the show more authentic in a certain sense, because a real Hendrix concert would have surprises and unexpected turns. “Stanley Jordan Plays Jimi” tries to re-create both the energy and the creativity of the real thing.

Come for the preshow to Santana and Doobie Brothers and groove to the best tribute of the legendary Englishtown 1977 show featuring Grateful Dead, New Riders of the Purple Sage and The Marshall Tucker Band!On September 3rd, 1977, The Grateful Dead headlined one of the largest and most musically successful concerts of all time at Raceway Park in Englishtown, NJ. In addition to the Grateful Dead, who had just completed its legendary Spring/Summer 1977 tour featuring a batch of new material from Terrapin Station, the show also featured the Dead family’s New Riders of the Purple Sage and the good-time, southern rock of The Marshall Tucker Band. This tribute extravaganza will feature  selections from each band’s sets that day along with other deep cuts and original music inspired these three bands .​As Michael Falzarano tells the tale!Everywhere I toured with The New Riders of the Purple Sage for the past 20 years someone would come up to me at almost every show and say “I saw you guys at Englishtown.” Long story short, it seemed like a good idea to put a band together and pay tribute to that legendary September 3, 1977 show. With that, The Englishtown Project was born. The intention was to play one show at The Brooklyn Bowl, NY and just have some fun with it. That one show has turned into upwards of 150 shows. Go figure!The Mission!The mission is to pay tribute to the music of all three iconic bands that played that day in 1977: The Grateful Dead, The Marshall Tucker Band and The New Riders of the Purple Sage.  There were over 60 songs played that day, all of which are instantly recognizable. We play an ever-changing mix of the songs at every show along with some other songs not played that day and original songs inspired by the music of these three iconic bands. These bonus tunes are true to the history and legacy of the three bands. So if the spirit moves you and you have a request, shout it out. It just might get played.
