A member of The Onlies and a frequent collaborator with&nbsp;Willie Watson, she has performed and&nbsp;taught at festivals like Fiddle Tunes, MerleFest, Green Mountain Bluegrass Festival, and Pickathon.&nbsp;Sami and Willie just wrapped up a run opening up for Alison Krauss and Union Station on their Summer 2025 Arcadia tour. She's a tune-writer and honored to present a new project of original and traditional tunes joined by Allison De Groot and Quinn Bachand. Allison de Groot’s banjo playing; simultaneously spacious, detailed and intensely rhythmic, has earned her awards from the JUNOs, Americana Music Award, Canadian Folk Music Awards and most recently the Steve Martin Prize for Excellence in Banjo. She tours consistently with fiddler Tatiana Hargreaves, percussive dancer Nic Gareiss and the Transatlantic Sessions House Band led by Jerry Douglas.&nbsp;Quinn Bachand is a versatile guitarist whose distinctive playing blend’s genres from Celtic traditional to jazz. The ancient banjo begins to hum, then sing, then rip. With fingers moving impossibly fast, the music begins to vibrate and glow. Transitioning to another song he picks up a homemade and road-worn guitar. The slower, heartfelt ballad written for his first daughter is almost a relief. Subtly, the rest of the band adds layers to the sound one at a time. Benny's voice rings out, adding to the echoes of all the acts that have graced this stage. There is distance in that voice, and you can hear the miles and miles of road in the guitar, vibrating like smooth highways passing under weary tires.Featuring:Jeffrey Scott Mack is a Singer-Songwriter from Bellingham WA. His musical landscapes land somewhere between the dark, evergreen forests of Washington State and the cobble stone riverbanks of the Midwest. Sundaze is a devotion to the contrasts of life. This five-piece band brings a whole new sound to the Pacific Northwest music scene by creating a soundscape that weaves together five musicians from widely different walks of life to create something greater. Their sound merges elements of alt-rock, shoegaze, grunge, and alt-metal into a blend of beautiful melodies. Sundaze explores the contrast of the soft and the hard, the sound and the noise, the ethereal and the gritty, all part of the divine cycles of life. The Sundaze sound comes from a layered collaboration of all members and intends to create space for resonance. Their music holds fragments of the members’ diverse life experiences. Mari, our female vocalist, brings lyrical inspiration drawn from South American culture and perspective that shines through the instrumentation with smooth, enchanting melodies. Eddie, the guitarist and vocalist, brings a technical smoothness and intricacy to the sound, Jake contributes the heavier elements and influence through his guitar work, Matt inputs life and energy through his complex, but tasteful drumming, and Max acts as the sonic glue through his well-thought-out bass parts.Stargazy Pie is one of a handful of bands that can say they started a new genre. They merged each member’s diverse influences into what they dubbed shred-pop – a combination of sweeping guitar solos, poignant lyrics, sweet melodies, slamming double-bass drums, prog-inspired bass lines, and guttural screams. Stargazy Pie has honed their live shows at clubs and theaters around the Northwest, including The Moore Theatre, MoPOP, McMenamin’s Spanish Ballroom, The Vera Project, The Central Saloon, Karate Church, and John’s Alley. They have placed in several battles of the bands, winning recording time at London Bridge and Robert Lang Studios. The backroads of America tell its truest stories. The&nbsp; heartbreak and heartbeat of the country thumps the loudest in&nbsp; the cracks between its big cities. A 2021 census in Blanchester,&nbsp; OH registers the village's population at around 4,230 people.&nbsp;Nolan Taylor isn't quite sure of the exact number, but he&nbsp; knows it's small from growing up in this place with his dad and&nbsp; older brother. His father managed plants and factories, yet&nbsp;money was scarce and the winters were brutal. Mom battled&nbsp; addiction and mental struggles, eventually estranging her from&nbsp; the boys. When he could finally afford a left-handed guitar, he&nbsp; started to write and record music of his own, grafting hard earned wisdom, heart-wrenching memories, and hypnotic&nbsp; melodies to rustic and ruddy acoustic phrasing.&nbsp;As a kid, he found solace in music. He discovered The&nbsp; Grateful Dead through his dad and developed an appreciation for&nbsp; Pinegrove. Throughout junior high, he studied classic MTV&nbsp; Unplugged concerts by the likes of Alice In Chains, Pearl Jam, and&nbsp; Nirvana. Even though he primarily focused on wrestling, working&nbsp; out, football, and basketball, he finally picked up a left-handed&nbsp; guitar in high school. After graduating, he spent years gigging&nbsp; around West Virginia, Virginia, and Kentucky, playing anywhere&nbsp; and everywhere. In 2023, a video of Nolan performing “68” in the&nbsp; woods went viral with 2.6 million YouTube views on the Radio WV&nbsp; YouTube Channel. Achieving virality from obscurity and gathering&nbsp; millions of streams, he tells a true story all his own via a series of&nbsp; 2023 singles for Atlantic Records, beginning with "Wicked Ways."

Niall Ó Murchú from Cork and Dublin, Ireland is a part of Ireland’s Gaelic linguistic minority and the global diaspora of Irish speakers. He has taught at Fairhaven College, Western Washington University since 2001, and plans to bring students to Galway and the Donegal Gaeltacht in July 2023.

Humorous Sean-nós Songs from Donegal

Dale and Nell Russ,&nbsp;a husband and wife fiddle duo from Seattle, play "pure drop" traditional Irish music. They have an affinity for the older, wilder side of Irish music, reflecting the deep connection of the tradition to the natural world. They encourage you to listen to the&nbsp;sounds&nbsp;of their music, rather than just the notes. They also share an uncanny ability to read each other's minds while playing - many people have commented with awe that their bows often seem to unconsciously sync with each other! Known from Japan to Ireland and across the United States, Dale has been a highly respected fiddle player, teacher, and keeper of the tradition for over fifty years. He has recorded a dozen albums, two of them solo, and worked with such luminaries as Kevin Burke, Gerry O'Beirne, and Paddy O'Brien.&nbsp;Nell is newer to the scene, falling in love with Irish music (and her fiddle - love at first sight!) and joining the community in the late 2010s. She was drawn to Dale's music and mentorship, sharing his deep belief in the beauty of the raw, unadorned heart of the music, and was honored to begin studying with him in 2020. Nell is a stalwart of the northwest session scene and has been performing and teaching since 2023. The duo's recent appearances include the Irish Pipers Club Tionól concert in Seattle, WA; Conor Byrne Co-Op Irish Music Mondays; Lark Camp in Mendocino; Barrington's Irish Bar and Grill on Whidbey Island; the Northwest Portland Hostel; and Irish céilís, set dances, and contras around the Pacific Northwest. They've been enjoying the Bellingham Celtic Fest for many years (shout out to the amazing Cayley Schmid!) and are honored to be a part of it.Darcy Noonan is a native of the San Francisco Bay Area. She started her music career at the age of 6, studying the Suzuki method with Annemarie Sudermann. Shortly after, she began studying Irish dancing with Anne Healy at the Healy School of Irish dancing. It was not obvious then, but these would become life changing experiences.&nbsp;As a young adult, Darcy realized her technical ability and knowledge of Irish music were a unique combination which propelled her to her true calling as a fiddler. Darcy has been fiddling up a storm ever since. Her music has moved her to Ireland to study with the masters of Irish music and taken her all over the world to play gigs and&nbsp;meet new friends.&nbsp;Darcy's music career came full circle when she studied Suzuki Method pedagogy with world renowned Suzuki violin teacher David Strom. The Suzuki student has become the Suzuki teacher. Now she is equipt with even more tools to teach her students, both fiddle and classical alike.&nbsp;Darcy has had the honor of being an instructor many times at music camps such as the Freight and Salvage's Fiddlekids, Golden Toad Camp, Lark in the Morning Camp, and apprentice at Fiddle Tunes. Darcy maintains a lively music studio in Oakland, CA, where she teaches both classical and fiddle music to all ages of students and shares her music at events.&nbsp;

Considered one of the most talented Irish musicians in America today, flautist, whistle player, singer, and Juno Award-winner Hanz Araki has been lauded by publications and audiences alike.&nbsp;&nbsp;Three decades of musical exploration into Irish, Scottish, Japanese, and American traditions has yielded his distinct style described by Fatea Magazine as “achingly beautiful.” As the sixth generation of his family to bear the title Araki Kodo, Hanz (short for Hanzaburo, his great-great grandfather’s name) spent his formative years mastering the Japanese end-blown bamboo flute.&nbsp;&nbsp;Discovering and relishing the melodic and mechanical similarities between shakuhachi and Irish whistle, Hanz applied his natural capacity and boundless curiosity to his Irish heritage.&nbsp;&nbsp;Taking advantage of the rich Irish music scene in Seattle, where he spent his youth, Hanz quickly became known for his exquisite instrumental work on both Irish whistle and flute and a haunting singing voice that was born to tell tales.

Alicia Guinn is a leading American expert on old-style Irish dance traditions, including sean-nós dancing, set dancing, old-style step dancing, céilí dancing, and two-hand dances. For more than 25 years, Alicia has worked throughout the U.S. and Canada, performing, teaching, and consulting for both local and national events. With expertise rooted directly in the sean-nós dance tradition of Co. Galway and the set dancing communities of Co. Clare, Alicia helps students develop joy, fluency, flow, musicality, and personal style in their dancing. Alicia’s teaching style is strongly influenced by her professional experience in early childhood education and play-based learning. Her teaching background inspires her to create new, innovative approaches for teaching traditional dance. Alicia creates welcoming, inclusive learning communities that empower students to develop courage and creativity. Alicia believes in using traditional dance to create community and generate life-affirming joy. She promotes the many mental and physical benefits of dance and believes that&nbsp;dance should be accessible to people of all ages, backgrounds, body types, skill levels, and socio-economic conditions.

Kalos is drawn to water. Every performance is like stepping into a river—they never play a song the same way twice. They make music inspired by the maritime traditions of Scotland, Ireland, Scandinavia and North America. Their album titles—Harbour and Headland—honor the meeting point between the land and sea and they sing songs about shorelines, seafarers and drownings. They revel in the driving danceability of Irish tunes, but also take inspiration from the pastoral melodies and naturalistic metaphors of Scottish music. But while the music they write is forged in tradition, it is nonetheless cast and tempered in new and unexpected ways. The trio spans three generations, three cities and two countries. Ryan McKasson (violin, viola, voice), Eric McDonald (guitar, mandolin, voice) and Jeremiah McLane (accordion, piano, voice) met over the years at highland games, contra dances and fiddle camps across North America. They made their first recording in 2016 and have been touring together since 2019. Kalos prizes the magic of live performance—breathing, dancing and weaving together like high-wire acrobats. They are as generous as they are virtuosic. Like nature itself, their music is full of chaos and chance yet always feels spacious and balanced. Their concerts are more an exposé than a performance—they are immersive, trance-inducing experiences.Lennart Jansson - viola d’amore, and Mira Dickey - hardanger fiddle (together make Sølvstål) explore the novel musical territory at the intersection of Norwegian fiddling and Irish traditional music. Their duet playing combines Mira’s expertise in the hardanger fiddle tradition with Lennart’s knowledge and creativity in Irish fiddling. The 9-string hardanger fiddle and 12-string baroque viola d’amore are a natural match for each other, both with a range of unusual tunings and otherworldly resonance thanks to sympathetic strings. Their sound ranges from delicate and tender to brilliant and symphonic, with a repertoire spanning traditional dance tunes both popular and obscure, as well as recently-composed pieces. This is Irish and Norwegian music like you’ve never heard it before!

WTF FESTIVAL 

Enjoy the end of the first day of WTF Festival with these incredible bands! Kicking off the mini-festival weekend we have Hockey Teeth starting their West Coast Run with Dollarbird and Pilot Seat.Hockey Teeth is a Seattle-based power pop band blending the high energy of modern rock with the catchy melodies of mid-60s pop. Their music offers a fresh and infectious take on the classic power pop sound, drawing comparisons to Phoenix, Elvis Costello, Hippo Campus, and Wilco.Formed in 2019 in the dish room at Western Washington University's Ridgeway Commons, the band began when Riley Adair and Joey Boone bonded over their love of music. Riley brought in classmate Owen Rollison, and the three immediately started writing songs together. Joey later welcomed childhood best friend Zach Grande into the band in 2021 to complete the lineup.Hockey Teeth quickly gained traction in the Bellingham, WA music scene, winning Western Washington University’s Battle of the Bands in only their third show. Since then, they’ve played numerous festivals including Capitol Hill Block Party and Bellingham Arts and Music Festival, and have opened for acts like Mr Twin Sister, Naked Giants, Water From Your Eyes, Argonaut &amp; Wasp, and Acid Tongue.Now based in Seattle, the band continues to build momentum with their debut full-length album, 'Cut Your Teeth' (2025).

MaMuse (“Ma” as in Mamma; “Muse” as in the one who inspires)MaMuse was born out of a collaboration between songwriters Karisha Longaker and Sarah Nutting. 2008 was a year of great alchemy. Fires erupted in Northern California, a great wind of inspiration blew through, catalyzing a series of songs written from the soil and rivers, ash and heat of Chico where these two musicians met.In the early days these troubadours toted instruments around town by bicycle and shared their songs at farmers markets, community gatherings, small cafes and festivals. Not too long after, these two voices became iconic to the Chico community, representing idyllic values of friendship, community, love for nature and care for Self and World. The love spread, sisterhood held strong through 14 years of LIFE: children, relationships arriving and dissolving, making home in many new places.&nbsp;Mamuse songs such as “We Shall Be Known” and “Hallelujah” have sprouted wings and are now sung at the bed sides of birthing mothers, round campfires, at weddings and funerals... All places where people are gathered to celebrate and to mourn. These are songs born of the Folk lineage; songs for all of us.&nbsp;

Each piece celebrates the marimba’s versatility and reflects the diverse musical backgrounds of our band members.Pamwe’s vision is to share the captivating music of Zimbabwe, which the members have dedicated their lives to learning. He also appears regularly doing political comedy chat on the podcasts The Bugle and The Bitchuation Room. Nato Green released his second comedy album The Whiteness Album on Blonde Medicine Records, and appeared in the film Sorry to Bother You. Founded by Nick Clack in 2017, after returning from living overseas, this project draws inspiration from the dramatic and varied landscape that is ever-present. Born and raised in the Pacific Northwest, over the past two decades Kian Dye has made a name for himself as one of the premier bluegrass musicians in the region. Kian comes from a childhood of fiddle contests, bluegrass festivals, and music camps, and has performed alongside artists like Never Come Down, Eli West, and Under the Rocks. Kian released his debut album in May of 2024 which he wrote, produced, engineered, and mixed. Now fronting his own band, Kian blends classic bluegrass vocals and original instrumentals to push the boundaries of Bluegrass while remaining firmly rooted in tradition.Mt. Baker String Band is a fresh new Jamgrass band based in Bellingham, Washington. Eloquently blending synth-folk, moody pop, and soaring vocal harmonies, Babes In Canyon crafts music that is eminently engaging and very much of the moment. Born of a spontaneous writing session during a blackout, their debut EPs Second Cities &amp; Year To Live unfold with an easy grace that belies the relative newness of the endeavor. As one of the founding members of the indie-pop band Kuinka, Nathan Hamer honed his skills as a singer-songwriter through years of national headlining tours and festival performances. Yet, Hamer felt a calling to explore a new path. “I wanted to start a project that explored the outer edges of folk music, that pushed what I love about folk and americana song structures into a new soundscape.” Fate must have been listening, and soon a severe windstorm stranded Hamer and partner Amanda Ebert in a remote cabin near Washington’s Mount Baker. “We lost power and then the trees started to fall. Our only path out was blocked, so we started playing music by firelight to calm our nerves,” laughs Hamer. “I was humming along with my baritone uke. Amanda wrote out lyrics. And by the end of the night, we had our first song for Babes In Canyon.” A brace of songs in hand, the duo enlisted Michelle Nuño to track bass on their debut record, then headed to Hamer’s farmhouse to be close to nature, converting the bottom floor into a proper recording studio. Joining the band was vaunted producer &amp; engineer Jerry Streeter (Brandi Carlile, The Lumineers). “We recorded at night.” explains Hamer, “We’d step out between takes to watch the stars and listen to the owls.” Hitting the road for a spate of tours, festivals, and live performances, the duo conjure up layered soundscapes, “looping keys, beats, percussion effortlessly in an electric, raucous live performance” (Atwood Magazine). While thematically linked, each song by the band is laced with a strong sense of transition and individuality. “We try to create a sonic landscape of standing on a mountain just after a storm,” says Hamer, “when the first beams of sunlight start to break through the clouds.” With their first two EPs and latest single receiving praise from the likes of Under The Radar, Magnet, and Atwood Magazine, Babes In Canyon’s debut album “The New Loud” is set to release in 2025. Genre-defying, expertly arranged, and profoundly catchy, Babes In Canyon stands ready to soundtrack your adventures - spontaneous or otherwise.
