Karen Lugo is a Mexican flamenco artist and Guest Artistic Director of Flamenco Vivo, knowledgeable and respectful of tradition and, at the same time, restless and innovative. As a choreographer, she has received the Best Choreography award at the Spring Film Festival of Barcelona, First Prize for Flamenco Dance at the International Festival of Almeria, First Prize for Choreography at the Contemporary Flamenco Festival of Finland, and Third Prize at the XVII Certamen de Danza Española y Flamenco de Madrid. She has performed as soloist at the Festival de Jerez, Festival Flamenco de Madrid, Festival Flamenco de Vancouver, Festival Flamenco de Montreal, and many others across Europe, Latin America, and the Middle East. In collaboration with the Casa Patas Flamenco Foundation, she has premiered three shows with international tours, and her latest solo work, "Golpe de Tierra," was nominated for the Premis de la Crítica d'Arts Escèniques for best solo show. She has participated in films under the direction of Javier Latorre, including "Flamenco Flamenco" by Carlos Saura. At Soho Live NYC, Lugo brings her artistry to "No esTABLAO," a performance concept that abandons the traditional tablao format to create space for something entirely new. With flamenco dance as its foundation, No esTABLAO stages an unrehearsed encounter between Lugo and guest artists from outside the flamenco world. Nothing is agreed upon beforehand. Everything unfolds in real time. This is flamenco unbound.

Its first release, &amp;quot;Fingers On It,&amp;quot; gave the bandsome initial recognition when the track was featured in the 1986 cult movie Henry: Portraitof a Serial Killer.By 1989, original members, Chip Z’Nuff and Donnie Vie were joined by guitarist DerekFrigo and drummer Vikki Foxx. The band had signed with Atco/ Atlantic Records thatsame year and released their debut self-titled album. The album spawned two singles thatwould change the course of the band’s history, ‘New Thing’ and ‘Fly High Michelle.’ Bothsongs were played constantly on the radio and gained heavy rotation on MTV spendingover 60 weeks in the top 10.1991 saw the band release its follow-up, Strength. M.A.G.S. is the solo moniker for Buffalo-bred multi-disciplinary artist Elliott Douglas. His style seamlessly glides between genres ─ from funky garage rock to minty alt-pop with a punk- inspired energy. The release of his third full-length album Destroyer in 2023 via Smartpunk Records pushed Douglas into a more textural direction, dripping with flavors of post-punk while keeping his genre-bending melodies. Written by Douglas and produced by Jay Mass (Defeater), the album is about having to destroy yourself in order to grow and move forward – an extremely relatable phase in one’s life. M.A.G.S. released his first solo record in 2015, an EP titled Cellophane, and his self-titled LP arrived two years later - securing a seat amongst the most prominent indie/alt-rock artists. With his new batch of music, Douglas displayed marked growth in vocal prowess, overall musicality and lyrical bite through the release of 2020’s Lost Tapes EP.Dougals’s universal appeal feeds his success, and it’s never at the expense of his art.
