Come sing your heart out with a room full of people who will soon become your friends. We create a judgement-free chorus in a night where all voices and abilities are welcome. It’s fun, easy, friendly and oh-so-relaxing! What is PopUp Chorus? Ask yourself these questions: Do you love to sing? Have you thought about joining a chorus but are too busy to commit? Do you sing in the shower or in your car? Did you sing in school or college, but don’t have an opportunity to sing now? If you answered "YES!" to any of these questions, you belong in PopUp Chorus! We’re an ad hoc chorus with no audition or ongoing commitment. We’re never the same group twice and everyone is welcome, regardless of singing ability. We do not believe bad voices! It used to be said you’d have to venture to Raleigh for a good metal show, but Durham has lately been offering a strong counter-argument. If the recently resurrected Bull City Metal Fest didn’t prove the town’s appetite for heavy music, this offering of local and regional sludge and doom metal ought to deliver an exclamation mark of its own.Hometown bruisers Doomsday Profit have built a reputation for intense live shows and a hefty fusion of psych, sludge, and doom to fuel their politically vitriolic screeds. Word is the band has been woodshedding a batch of new songs that bring more elements of noise rock, punk, and harder-edged psychedelic groove into the mix.Stopping through Durham on their way to Maryland’s Knights of Doom festival, Lexington, Ky. band StormToker showcases their own takes on the slow and low. StormToker takes a broader approach, adding synths and sax to a molten alloy of stoner metal, thrash, and irreverent hard-rock.&nbsp;Weight Shift, whose members split time between the Triangle and Asheville, set a high bar with their dynamic and progressive take on sludge metal that recalls everything from the lumbering post-metal juggernaut of Neurosis to the blistering hesher-sludge of High on Fire.&nbsp;Durham doom experimentalists Voidward reach for the far expanses of melodic doom, embracing heavy psych, jazz fusion and proto-metal depending on the whims of the Void.Doors open at 7 p.m. for this all ages metal show.
