Their personal ethic is reflected in the mantra: "The Great Work can be done, but is never finished."AIR IS HUMAN is Josh Aptner and Jeff Lucci; a duo that has been cultivating a sound that balances explosive beats and emotive Rhodes piano arrangements with bold, heavy, and atmospheric guitar melodies. The music is focused and through-composed, but within the arrangements there is a looseness that allows the specifics to be improvisational. Blending influences from downtempo and ambient with kraut and psych rock, from groups like Boards of Canada to Talk Talk, the sound is loud and enveloping, yet still maintains a delicate and cinematic quality to it.

She is a regular at New York Comedy Club, Rodney’s (formerly Dangerfields) and Williamsburg Comedy Club amongst other clubs around the country. She has featured and headlined New York Comedy Festival, Red Clay Comedy Festival, a finalist at Boston ComedyFestival, and was in Max’s Documentary Woodstock 99: Peace. Love. Bob Mould – Here We Go CrazyWhen he calls, Bob Mould is finishing work on his 15th solo album, Here We Go Crazy. A distillation of the unfailing melodic skill, the emotional lucidity and dynamic fluency he’s developed over more than four decades, it’s also a typically bold realignment of his sonic paradigm. Its turbulent vignettes are scored by Mould’s familiar bruised tunefulness, but the sound is pared back to its fundaments, 11 songs blistering past in just over 30 minutes. “I’ve stripped things back to what excited me as a young guitarist,” he explains. “The energy, the electricity.”Part of the inspiration for this more primal aesthetic is the heavy itinerary of touring he’s lately undertaken, several years spent circling the globe, either in the company of bandmates Jon Wurster (drums) and Jason Narducy (bass) or just by himself. “I was really throwing myself in the songbook and feeling where the audience is at,” he says. “And they were really responding to this very simple, just-me-and-a-guitar setup. And I thought, maybe I shouldn’t be overcomplicating things, ‘word’-ing or ‘craft’-ing it up. Just grab for the simple bits of life we still have control over: our emotions, our relationships.”After shows, Mould would hang out signing merch and talking to fans. “Sometimes people bring a lot of their lifetime emotional content to me,” he says, “like they’ve compressed all this coal into a tiny little diamond. Sometimes I’m surprised at the weight of it, the heaviness. I’m like, ‘I’m here for you. I’m listening.’ I’m shocked and grateful they share so readily with me. I don’t know what I did to earn that trust.”Mould has earned that trust with every record he’s made, channelling his own “lifetime emotional content” for songs of wisdom, honesty and volcanic intensity. His first band, Hüsker Dü, bared his angst over furious noise and turbulent melody, an indelible influence on generations that followed. But by the time Nirvana infiltrated the mainstream, Bob Mould had already moved on, having sequestered himself in a farmhouse to lick his wounds and learn new ways to sing his songs. His solo debut, 1989’s folk-rock masterpiece Workbook, was a record of depth and sophistication. Then he pulled another sharp turn, his power-trio Sugar alloying his most melodic songs with his fiercest noise, yielding his most commercially successful work yet.&nbsp; Over the solo career that followed Sugar’s own mid-90s flameout, he’s displayed a maturing gift for songwriting, transcending the ‘alternative’ tag and recognised alongside key influences like Pete Townshend and Pete Shelley. He’s adrenalized classic forms, alchemised angst into something addictive and powerful. “I’m just trying to figure myself out,” he says. “After 64 years of life – 55 spent writing songs – it’s what I do.” The concepts that shaped the songs of subsequent albums reflect those years. The ruminative Beauty &amp; Ruin (2014) and Patch The Sky (2016) were written in the wake of losing his parents and other loved ones. 2019’s Sunshine Rock was a homage to the early Capitol singles of the Beatles and the Beach Boys, constant companions through his turbulent childhood. The terse, political Blue Hearts (2020) was written and recorded amid the dying days of the first Trump administration. Here We Go Crazy, meanwhile, arrives at another moment of uncertainty, a time of disruption and fear. Mould sees the songs unfolding like the three acts of a play, each act exploring distinct but related themes. The first handful of songs concern “control versus chaos”, Mould explains. The opening title track contrasts images of nature – deserts, mountains, fault-lines – with the tumult of human life. Inspired by a riff that Mould says “sounded like a fistfight”, ‘Neanderthal’ is “a snapshot from inside my head as a young kid: growing up in a violent household, everything being unsettled, feeling that fight-or-flight response at all times,” while ‘Breathing Room’ is “about feeling isolated, cramped-up, and literally needing that breathing space”.&nbsp;The furious, dynamic ‘Fur Mink Augurs’ signals the second act, where the darkness descends. The song channels claustrophobia, and “the cold, crazy, late-winter feeling I grew up with in the Adirondacks and in Minnesota. When the cabin fever really sets in deep – when the permafrost is set and it never gets warm – you become frayed, and things can really unravel, quickly.” ‘Lost Or Stolen’ chronicles lives undone by “people losing themselves in their phones,” Mould explains. From this focus, he pulls back and digs into “ideas about depression, addiction, self-medication and collapse… The words just fell out of me.” This anguished middle-passage of the album concludes with the cathartic ‘Sharp Little Pieces’, exploring “the end of innocence, the idea of a young child’s trust being violated. For those of us who lost trust as children, it disappears in a flash, and we spend years struggling to regain that innocence. And maybe it never comes back.”The song ends bluntly (Mould says the album’s “lack of sophisticated ornamentation is key – I was trying to stay out of the way of the songs, to strip away all the things I used to think were important, all those extra colours and complexities. I didn’t want to get deep into decorating the tree. I wanted to keep it simple, to use the simplest words”), raising the curtain on the closing act. The theme here is lifting oneself out of the darkness; ‘You Need To Shine’ is a song about “looking for the bright sides, the good parts of life, despite everything that’s happened”, Mould says, a sentiment borne out by the song’s spirited holler that “all that madness doesn’t matter anymore”. ‘Thread So Thin’ is “about trying to protect the one you love, and trying to feel protected”, Mould explains, while the closing ‘Your Side’ is a powerful love song from the edge of the darkness, Mould howling “If the world is going down in flames, I want to be by your side”. “We're heading into a great unknown here,” Mould says, of the wider geopolitical and climate anxieties that inspired these songs. The message here is, simply, focus on that which can save you and deliver you from this moment. “This album talks a lot about uncertainty, helplessness, being on edge,” Mould adds. “How much can we control? How much chaos can we handle? In the end, the answer, the remedy, is placing your trust in unconditional love.” Mould knows Here We Go Crazy is an album freighted with darkness; “There’s soothing melodies, and there’s lyrical discomfort,” he deadpans. “It’s manic, frantic, complex.” But no one ever came to Bob Mould for good news, for the easy answers. Pop music runs through his veins, as surely as the electricity that drives his chiming hooks into the realms of distortion, but he’s here to give you the truth, his truth. To give you songs that ring true when howled against a tornado of guitar, that compress all that “lifetime emotional content” into some kind of sonic diamond. There’s eleven of those precious gems here, sculpted to make the heaviness easier to bear, somehow. Treasure them.

His Colbert performance was reviewed by Vulture. Daniel was named New York’s Funniest at the 2022 New York Comedy Festival, won UK’s So You Think You’re Funny, and received the Best Newcomer Award at Edinburgh Fringe Festival.&nbsp; He made his feature film debut in Stavros Halkias’ Let’s Start A Cult. He recurred on Vic and Bob’s BBC sitcom alongside Matt Berry,&nbsp;House of Fools, and ITV’s&nbsp;Timewasters. The band does not perform note for note recreations of traditional music, but combines these forms with Western influences to create a hybrid of the traditional and contemporary, that is both exotic and familiar. In addition to their many performances on stage and various media entities, Namaste has recorded a critically acclaimed CD, “Namaste-Colonial Pagoda”. Lynn Stover served with the Peace Corps in Tunisia, where he fell in love with the people and the culture. He learned to sing in Arabic and play the darbouka, a ceramic drum which is prominent in North African and Middle Eastern music.Dave Moyar, long fascinated by African-American music and culture, played electric bass in R&amp;B and funk bands. Julian Aguirre, a guitarist raised in Montevideo. Julian grew up with the rhythms of South America and the influence of electric guitar heroes like Jimi Hendrix and Frank Zappa. His interest in the roots of this music exposed him to African artists and grooves.Jose Canto Cruz, a Latin Percussionist born in Puerto Rico joined Namaste in early 2023, bringing a new level of excitement and musicality by adding Afro Cuban and Afro Rican rhythms. Trixi Greiner is a teacher and multi-styled keyboardist/accordionist who records and plays with many local bands including her original band Inca Campers, Irish band "Whiskey B4 Breakfast," her polka band "Ein Prosit," a funk band "Bunchafunk," and others. She is excited about also playing with World Beat band Namaste. The rhythm section has since been augmented by Dan White. He has played in numerous combos and big bands in south central PA and Maryland, in styles ranging from rock to swing to country and jazz. He enjoys learning new drum set skills and — as a newcomer to Namaste — expanding his knowledge of world music and rhythms. Namaste first played in January of 2023 at Tellus360 to much acclaim and a packed house. The band is looking forward to this return engagement at Tellus360 with an enhanced line-up and lots of energy. The band plans to continue performing and celebrating the similarities and differences of us all through music.“

The latest offering from Psymon Spine (Noah Prebish, Peter Spears, and Brother Michael Rudinski) out on Northern Spy is a gritty, punchy, guitar-forward studio record from a band obsessed with production. “It’s more unhinged than anything we’ve made before,” says Prebish, adding, “Throughout the writing process, we were always asking ourselves how we could make it really fun to play live.” The end result is a little Sonic Youth, a little YMO, and basks in the glow of early 2000s New York-based dance punk and electroclash. A battle with clinical anxiety disorder and prescription drug abuse, which came to a head in 2019, had dimmed the light within. The man who once seemed to ooze spontaneity was now creatively adrift, stumbling along in the fog.In December, he entered a program and, for the first time in a long time, a path toward healing began to emerge. He began to see that inner peace was possible, even with the world outside raging.A few months later, in February, a tornado came and decimated East Nashville, his adopted hometown. Covid-19 took root just days later, changing lives forever. In the early days of his recovery, a different reality was beginning to take shape, both within and without. New worlds were being born; old worlds were dying.Knowing he was struggling to write songs and make sense of it all, Slim was finally able to flesh out a throwaway ditty one afternoon. His close friend Mike then suggested he try penning a song a day. Slim didn't like the idea, but he gave it a shot.To his surprise, the songs came. In a flurry of stream-of-consciousness writing, the new tunes tumbled out, one after another, like little starbursts of joy, gifts from the gods you might say. Slim was tuning out the noise and finding beauty in the madness of a world coming undone. Over the course of a couple of months from March to May, Slim penned more than twenty that were certified keepers. Out of this bumper crop came the songs that make up his new album, Strawberry Mansion, which is being released this winter on Dualtone Records."I wasn't sitting on the songs and I wasn't overthinking them," Slim says of the writing process of those months. "Something cracked open with the slowing down and the stillness of quarantine.After finishing a song, whether he liked the tune or not, he'd call Mike, a videographer, and they'd record it and post it to Instagram. It was a form of therapy, he now realizes. "There was nothing precious about the process and it was a bonding thing between me and Mike as much as anything else," Slim says. "It also gave me a release and maybe some potential form of healing, and was an opportunity to not always listen to the shitty thoughts in my head. I wasn't ever thinking that I was writing songs for a new record."Prior to this creative outburst, Slim's anxiety had grown so acute there were times when he actually feared picking up his guitar and trying to write. With the help of therapy and friends, he was now learning to confront his demons rather than run from them. So, in the midst of a panic attack one day, he picked up his guitar and the song "Panic Attack" was born. It's a raw, off-the-cuff number that rises above the dark subject matter with spirit, irony and humor. "I called a healthcare professional/ Wanna speak to someone confidentially/ Don't know just how I'm feelin'/ But I'm feelin' feelings exponentially," he sings.Album-opener "Mighty Soul" details a world beset by Biblical-grade plagues (coronavirus, the Nashville tornado) and government malfunction. It ultimately calls for healing through community and the recognition that we can all make a difference. It functions as the album's spiritual center, a secular gospel number for all mankind."Morning Prayer" is inspired by the songwriter's effort to pray for the first time in his life. "It's not in the key of any one religion," Slim says of the number. "For this, I'm grateful that my guitar was unknowingly yet appropriately out of tune. It's a song to help me practice compassion, surrender, connection to nature, the spirits and beyond."The second part of "Morning Prayer" is one of the most affecting moments on Strawberry Mansion, with the singer reaching out and offering prayers for his loved ones who are struggling, for all of humanity, really. "For my friends who suffer/ For my mother, father and brother/ For a world down on its knees/ I pray for thee," he sings with great poignancy.The road to Strawberry Mansion, which was recorded at Daylight Sound in Nashville with longtime compadres Paul DeFigilia (Avett Brothers) and Mat Davidson (Twain), began in 2019 with Slim's decision to get sober. Even though the singer-songwriter kicked alcohol years ago, the insidious monster of addiction had crept back into his life in different guises. The last straw came during a road trip with a friend, who, at the end of the journey, let it be known that the man he knew and loved was no longer recognizable. So Slim called his manager and loved ones and soon checked into a program. That experience and his ongoing recovery program have given him a framework for grappling with the personal demons that have always skulked in the shadows, and helped him find light in the void. "It's important for me to talk honestly about these things, because I feel it gives me strength, and it might help others along the way." he says.Strawberry Mansion is the singer-songwriter's seventh full-length album. He released his first record, Electric Love Letter, back in 2004. Since then he has graced the stages of Bonnaroo, Lollapalooza, Newport Folk Festival, and the Conan O'Brien show, winning fans over with his heart-on-a-sleeve sincerity and rousing live shows.Born Sean Scolnick in 1980, Slim took part of his artistic moniker from his hometown of Langhorne, Pennsylvania, a place he's still very much connected to despite making his home in Nashville. Julian grew up with the rhythms of South America and the influence of electric guitar heroes like Jimi Hendrix and Frank Zappa.&nbsp; His interest in the roots of this music exposed him to African artists and grooves.Jose Canto Cruz, a Latin Percussionist born in Puerto Rico joined Namaste in early 2023, bringing a new level of excitement and musicality by adding Afro Cuban and Afro Rican rhythms.&nbsp;Trixi Greiner is a teacher and multi-styled keyboardist/accordionist who records and plays with many local bands including her original band Inca Campers, Irish band "Whiskey B4 Breakfast," her polka band "Ein Prosit," a funk band "Bunchafunk," and others. She is excited about also playing with World Beat band Namaste.&nbsp;The rhythm section has since been augmented by Dan White. He has played in numerous combos and big bands in south central PA and Maryland, in styles ranging from rock to swing to country and jazz. He enjoys learning new drum set skills and — as a newcomer to Namaste — expanding his knowledge of world music and rhythms.&nbsp; Namaste first played in January of 2023 at Tellus360 to much acclaim and a packed house.&nbsp; The band is looking forward to this return engagement at Tellus360 with an enhanced line-up and lots of energy.&nbsp;The band plans to continue performing and celebrating the similarities and differences of us all through music.

For most of their life, Zzzahara has been looking backward. Raised in LA’s Highland Park neighborhood, their debut album, Liminal Spaces, confronted the changes the community has endured since Zzzahara’s childhood. That sense of loss, coupled with the persistent memories of a painful coming-of-age, led to many late night parties and an avoidant relationship with self-reflection. Liminal Spaces chronicled that ache, but these days, Zzzahara isn’t looking backward much – they’re not even looking forward. They’re just trying to be here, in the moment, as present as possible. Zzzahara’s sophomore album, Tender, released via Lex Records, documents a period of transition following a devastating breakup. Instead of crumbling, Zzzahara began to look inward by meditating and practicing mindfulness. “If I had to describe what my life is like now, I’d say ‘consistent.’ I’m trying to be consistent with everything I do.” Consistency requires tenderness, a willingness to cradle the soft parts of yourself that often go unnoticed. To make Tender, they locked themselves in their studio and subsisted on cold brew for nine to ten hours a day. To most, this sounds nightmarish, but the monastic experience gave Zzzahara a sense of total control over the output. “I learned so much making my first record and I wanted this one to prove that.” Tender thrives on the intimacy created in a home studio. While Tender can largely be considered a guitar rock album, opener “Dust” is a laconic song reminiscent of a mournful 1950s waltz, while the ebullient lead single “Kensington” sounds-off to the sparkling synths employed by the Cure. The immediacy of these pop songs doesn’t detract from the sincerity of Zzzahara’s lyrics. The dazzling guitar part heard on “Girls on SSRIs Don’t Cry” might hide the song’s pathos momentarily, but the chorus is an open-hearted plea to an ex. As its title purports, Tender is a sincere album, but that doesn’t stop Zzzahara, as they put it, letting their “asshole side loose.” It’s easy to recognize the faults in others, less so in yourself. On Tender, Zzzahara is unafraid of the world seeing theirs.
