<h3 style="text-align: start">About this experience</h3>&nbsp;Always wanted to try out Figure Drawing? or perhaps you're looking to get back into the practice after some time off? Or.... you don't care too much for drawing but just want to meet local creatives in our natural habit. If any of this resonates with you, you're in luck. Go Figure is a drawing group founded to bring community together and make figure drawing accessible. This isn't a class but a chance to try something new out in a safe supportive environment. Doors open at 6:30. Drawing is from 7-9. This event will happen at the Fruit. Street parking is available around the venue but allow yourself some time to find a space and walk over. 305 S Dillard, Durham, NC 27701 Tickets are $10. BYO art supplies. But please nothing that will make a mess. Aka anything that splashes, squirts, or squishes is prohibited. We are occupying a gallery space with other people’s work on the walls. If a work gets defaced you are responsible for compensating the artist. &nbsp;Recommended: if you have an easel that is easily transportable please bring it.&nbsp;Note:If you are interested in advancing your drawing skills I have had the most growth through Nicolaides “The Natural Way to Draw.” This methodology is how the class will be structured. It by no means is required but recommended for those interested in pursuing drawing.

Hosted by hosted by resident artist and photographer Jess Cruger of Cruger Creations, Photo Jam is a monthly photo community meetup providing a creative space for community connection through technical skill share labs and applying learned topics through experimentation and hands-on play. Bring your collaborative and social spirit to meet new friends while exploring a BIG warehouse space to create in.Open to photographers, models, and curious photo enthusiasts of all experience levels. These creative labs often involve off-camera flash, so bring your gear and any tools you want to create with. Doors open at 6:45pmSession lasts from 7-9pm. Rooted in Surrealism, we use provided materials - substrates (base), scissors, glue sticks, found objects, pre-cut images—to explore visual play, personification and the subconscious. Each session begins with a theme and prompts designed to encourage "creating first and thinking later." The show explores grief, spirituality, and mental health, asking the questions: Where is the line between a mental breakdown and a spiritual breakthrough? How do we support others through mental health crises while maintaining care for ourselves? Is it possible to reclaim our personhood after being discarded?The subject matter is dark, but there’s a twist; COMMITTED is bursting at the seams with comedy, joy, and community. Characters include a talking one-eyed cat with a punk-rock haircut, a seductive singing bed, and drag king pill bottles performing as a boy band. And that’s not all – watch out for a visionary medieval nun, a frisky Scottish witch, a gender-defying Haitian Revolutionary, and a long-overlooked Beat Poet from the Bronx.Performances take place August 13-30 at the Fruit (305 S Dillard Street, Durham, 27701).
