Pallbearer’s Foundations of Burden (2025 Redux) is a meticulous sonic reconstruction of their transformative, landmark 2014 album. The newly remixed and remastered version arrives digitally on Nov. 7, with physical editions (2xLP and CD) available on Dec. 5.“During the writing and preparation for Foundations, everything was ephemeral and we were practically feral,” recalls bassist/vocalist Joseph D. Rowland. “We had no real practice space, we barely had a single working computer between the four of us. Our demos of the record consisted of something barely discernible from white noise. Nevertheless, we knew we were working towards building a set of songs we were deeply enthusiastic about.Once in the thick of recording, the feeling went from dream to dreamlike very quickly, as we found ourselves in what felt like an endless churn of repetition. We slept at the studio on whatever soft surfaces we could find, waking each day to discover that some of the previous day’s work had been corrupted overnight. This resulted in some parts of the album being recorded many times over. The guitars in particular mutated into something Sisyphean.”Rowland continues, “Since the time that we finally committed the original version of Foundations to print, we knew it would be a sonic space we would eventually revisit. Its form did not unfold according to the original version as the numerous file corruptions, delays, and exhausted studio budget compounded into a final feverish push to finish the mix. We were relieved to get those massive and difficult mixes turned into finished songs just in time, but not without a nagging thought; we had to sacrifice much of the nuance we had spent so much time crafting.”More than a decade later, Pallbearer seized the opportunity to revisit the record from the ground up. Over the past year, the band meticulously reconstructed the album from the original sessions.“In the time since then, we have played most of the songs from Foundations more times than we can count, and they remain some of our favorites,” Rowland continues. “The songs have grown with us. And while we hold a deep love and attachment to what we created in 2014, we also gained a fuller understanding of how we would want to re-present them if we had a chance. After years of discussion, listening and learning, we found ourselves in the position to fulfill that vision.”Foundations of Burden (2025 Redux) features new mixes and mastering, plus new artwork featuring a painting by Benjamin Vierling. The six-song, 55-minute collection is produced by Pallbearer, mixed by Mario Quintero (Spotlights), and mastered by Adam Gonsalves.In celebration of the 2025 Redux edition of their landmark album Pallbearer will be playing select shows performing Foundations of Burden in full.

British-American trio Raynes formed when Mat Charley and Joe Berger, both born and raised in North Dakota, came across a video of UK native Mark Race on Instagram and fell in love—first with his face, then with his voice. After a few messages and phone calls, Mark was on a plane to the US to start a band (a few months later, he had the flight number tattooed on his arm).Since then, Raynes has signed with Sony Music Publishing and released six singles and four EPs, drawing hundreds of thousands of monthly listeners and tens of millions of streams and earning press in Billboard and People. Tom Hamilton has made a career of pushing rock n’ roll boundaries. Since 2000, Hamilton has fronted a cadre of bands, including Brothers Past, American Babies and Ghost Light. He also sings and plays lead guitar in the juggernaut contemporary Grateful Dead cover band, Joe Russo’s Almost Dead.It wasn’t until a series of personal and societal crises compelled the Philadelphia based musician/songwriter/producer to reconsider his approach and finally forge ahead under his own name. “When you're in a van on the road for 20 years, you live in your bubble, you think that your world is one way — and it's not. The pandemic break gave me the time to see that. Then my band broke up and my dad got sick. His work often explores ambition, failure, and modern masculinity.Josh da Costa is a Los Angeles-based musician and multi-instrumentalist whose solo debut, New Wave Graveyard (Stones Throw), is a surreal collection of “greatest hits from a parallel universe.” A longtime fixture of the NYC and LA undergrounds, da Costa fronted post punk / “mystery rock” trio Regal Degal (RVNG Intl.) as well as its more electronic offshoot CMON (Mexican Summer) and has played drums with Drugdealer, Chris Cohen, Jessica Pratt, and MGMT. As a DJ, he hosts the monthly NTS Radio show Confusing Mix, devoted to showcasing obscure, off-kilter, and infectious music from a seemingly alternate reality. His own music is an extension of that obsession: a Frankenstein’s monster of forgotten sounds, drawing freely from glam rock, shoegaze, disco, house, and outsider pop to create the kind of strange, irresistible songs you hope to discover buried in a record bin.

FLORRY:&nbsp;A far cry from the cool, calculated distance and reserved posture that is all-too-familiar to the indie-rock sphere, Florry, the Philly-bred septet and songwriting vehicle of bandleader Francie Medosch, are marking their territory as a band resolving to do something very different: they are having a really good time out there.Cutting her teeth in the Philadelphia DIY scene starting in 2019 as a student at Temple University, the early days of Florry found Medosch at the end of her teenage years releasing a slew of singles and EP’s in a familiar idiom of lo-fi bedroom recordings tinged with country melancholy. A lot has changed since then. Most importantly, perhaps, the project snowballed into a barn-burning seven piece rock band in the proceeding years; and without sacrificing any of the emotional immediacy that's come to define Medosch’s brashly earnest, bleeding-heart lyrical style, you’re unlikely to find her lingering as much on the melancholy these days. Or, as Medosch plainly puts it in regards to Sounds Like… , the band’s forthcoming LP: “The Jackass theme song was actually a really big influence on the new album”FRIENDSHIP:&nbsp;Music for sleeping and waking, walking and driving, hunting and fishing, for loitering outside a roadhouse on the haunted tundra. Okay in elevators, not great for dinner. On Caveman Wakes Up Friendship’s new album and second for Merge Records, the band’s historically capacious definition of country music grows wider still. Shambolic guitars are offset by flute pads, bleary poetry is set against a Motown rhythm section, a song about Jerry Garcia and First Lady Betty Ford fades out with a drum solo, like if Talk Talk came from a dingy Philadelphia basement, and was fronted by James Tate. Songwriter Dan Wriggins’ ragged baritone cuts through eleven murky, swirling country-rock songs with profound lyrical substance and sincerity. Like an alarm clock incorporated into the edge of a dream, Caveman Wakes Up belongs equally to the conscious and subconscious mind, fraught with background, steeped in reference and experimentation, delivered casually and as a dire warning, dedicated, above all, to music’s creative soul.

An early phenom, his passion for the Blues was sparked at age 14 when he came across a YouTube video of Muddy Waters playing “Hoochie Coochie Man.” He achieved widespread acclaim when living legend Taj Mahal invited Jontavious to accompany him onstage in 2015, with Taj describing him as his “Wonderboy.” Jontavious was invited to open for Taj Mahal and Keb’ Mo’ during their joint TajMo tour in 2018, giving him an opportunity to present his work on a national stage.Blue Metamorphosis, his acoustic debut album released in 2016, garnered rave reviews in Living Blues and Blues &amp; Rhythm and won the Blues Foundation’s International Blues Challenge 2018 Award for Best Self-Produced CD. Established in the late 1970s by siblings Michael and Trevor Bailey, Channel One SoundSystem originated when they were passed control of their father’s Admiral Bailey sound.They introduced the sound to nearby blues parties and dance events. The choice of the name Channel One was a tribute to the iconic Channel One studio in Jamaica, a place from which the brothers procured many of their records.During this era, accessing new reggae music proved challenging for Jamaicans, as it was not featured on radio or in local nightclubs. Instead, the communities organized blues parties and shabeens, where sound systems played the latest and most popular reggae tracks.Channel One is led by Mikey Dread, original selector, who plays a strictly vinyl selection from his one turn table. Alongside Mikey Dread are various vocalists and MCs who compliment the music with Rastafarian song and chanting. Current MCs are Macky Banton and Ras Sherby. haha Laughing is an Austin-based experimental noise rap project founded by Jay Dilick in 2020. What started as a solo recording venture evolved into a live-performing duo in 2023 when Dilick brought Aby Oviedo on board. Their music blends call-and-response vocals with disorienting samples and distorted beats, crafting a bold sound that is both nostalgic and innovative. Known for their high-energy, emotionally charged live shows, haha Laughing delivers an unfiltered mix of angst and playful absurdity that captivates audiences. Adrian Xavier &amp; Ska Island are celebrating the release of their epic single "Peace To All Nations".&nbsp; Recorded in Sept 2024 at Stone Gossard's "Studio Litho" in Fremont, Adrian's message of Peace and Love has never been more clearly and urgently stated. Built around a traditional spiritual Nyabhingi drum session, the powerful harmonized horn section soars over a rootsy bass and drums groove, while rock guitars texture the atmosphere of the song, and a sneakily funky clavinet part&nbsp;turns this into a genre-fusing epic.&nbsp;Adrian Xavier was born in Seattle and raised traveling throughout the West Coast of the United States. His mom Swaneagle is known in Pacific Northwest creative and activist circles as a free-spirited visual artist whose work reflects earth consciousness, unity, and grassroots social awareness. His mother and father's influences helped shape his blend of reggae, dub, folk, pop and global influences. Growing up with a father immersed in the Los Angeles fast-paced broadcast world - while being mostly raised by an activist visual artist - gave Adrian&nbsp;exposure to two very different but equally powerful creative influences. From the remote mountains of Eastern Washington to the suburbs of Los Angeles, Adrian Xavier grew up around diversity, The vibrant Pacific Northwest music community played a major role in developing his sound and career.&nbsp; Adrian Xavier's early music career began with the band Pure Water, which he started in 1997. While he was a member of Pure Water, the band opened for major reggae acts including The Wailers (Bob Marley's legendary band) and Jimmie Cliff.&nbsp;On stage, Adrian doesn't just perform songs - he creates atmosphere and connection. Whether performing solo with acoustic guitar or backed by a full band, his shows move between roots reggae grooves, world-beat rhythms, folk-inspired storytelling, and moments of improvisational dub energy. His lyrics center on unity, social awareness, empowerment, and positive action. Songs often invite the crowd to reflect, sing along, and participate.The mighty Ska Island band is an explosive jazz-band style ska band inspired by the original ska masters, the Skatalites. Featuring a talented lineup of veteran reggae and jazz professionals from across the PNW, the group has been amazing and delighting audiences across the region, both in their works with Adrian and independently performing new versions of classic ska tunes as well as original compositions. The powerful horn section punctuates a tight &amp; punchy rhythm section, and the whole band is stacked with dazzling soloists.
