MATT PRYORKansas City, Missouri native, Matt Pryor, is a household name for anyone who was attuned to the second and third waves of emo. His genre-defining band, The Get Up Kids, were among a small and legendary group that has shaped the musical landscape for years. However, after growing tired of the boundaries it so needlessly applied, the internationally recognized frontrunners eventually transcended the genre with their later albums and found themselves at home with a more indie sound.&nbsp;Most recently, on his latest album under his given name, Matt Pryor has presented the world with The Salton Sea, and it is abundantly clear that this is the continuation of a decades-long love affair with music and being outright obsessed with songwriting. Steadfast fans of Pryor’s prolific career will also find themselves treated to a style that is more reminiscent of the works of Paul Westerberg and Red House Painters, that is of course laden with Pryor’s signature style, whose DNA is deeply rooted in artists like Elvis Costello and The Afghan Whigs.&nbsp;It should be noted that the chosen title for the album is not one that was picked arbitrarily, and while not a concept album, the period of time when the songs were written were some of the darkest days of Pryor’s life. After spending six months in a downward spiral in what he sarcastically refers to as the penultimate moments of his “drinking career”, Pryor finally hit rock bottom. A casual habit that became a full-on addiction had officially come to a head, and in the blurry moments when 2022 became 2023, Pryor found himself with a choice that so many people before him have been forced to reckon with:&nbsp;Keep going on this path and face certain tragedy—or— Clean up, get sober, and stay on the right side of the dirt.&nbsp;Thankfully, Pryor decided on the latter, and the beautiful composite left on the shoreline for all of us to enjoy is the album now known as The Salton Sea. For those unfamiliar, The Salton Sea is what’s known as a “terminal” lake—meaning that new water never flows into it, and its salinity increases incrementally due to evaporation and pollution… The once high-spirited desert oasis was a tourist attraction for celebrities and the upper crust in the 1950s and 60s, and it is now a bona fide wasteland. It’s not difficult to imagine that while in the throes of addiction, Pryor saw himself as this once lush and vibrant body of water that years ago was referred to as a “California desert oasis”—but it is now an uninhabitable veritable shadow of its former self.&nbsp;Pryor’s latest songs have a timeless quality that makes you instantly nostalgic for strangers’ memories that unfold as narrative stories, and as a listener, you’re left wondering what these moments are all about—how will they unfold? The album, an existential crisis set to sugary melodies, cowboy chords and children’s toy instruments, was dubbed to a single cassette and buried in a cave in the California desert. The band released a cryptic video that served as the treasure map with the message “if you find it, we will release it.”Though the bedroom folk punk outfit had not released music in 11 years, in actuality they have been consistently releasing and touring under the genre-defying umbrella name Walter Etc. When asked why the band is split into two identities, singer / songwriter, Dustin Cole Hayes, aka Walter, responded “my life is already such a mess, I decided I’d keep adding to the chaos.” It is Hayes’s cut-your-own-ear-off artistic sincerity that has made the Walter-verse and their art collective, Making New Enemies, fertile grounds for such strong mythology and deep connections. “Yikes Almighty” recounts a year of Hayes’s wandering, searching for home and stability, both physically and philosophically. Adam's rapidly growing repertoire dives into themes of confrontation, fear, anxiety, worry, and pessimism. To contrast his dour lyrical themes, he makes it his goal to put on the most memorable live show he can and hopes to continue his passions going forward.John StanfordJohn Stanford, a trained vocalist originally from Rockford, Illinois, moved to Milwaukee in 2018 with the intent of becoming an educator. What started as a professional shift quickly became a personal transformation, as he fell in love with the city’s vibrant music scene and creative spirit. Over the years, John has accomplished a great deal—both as a performer and as a mentor—but one goal continues to drive him: building and strengthening Milwaukee’s music community through meaningful collaboration. Recorded in a California church basement, Trapper sings his truth against a backdrop of vintage drum machines, synths and distorted guitars.&nbsp;After having spent the last decade performing countless live dates and sharing stages with such like-minded Americana mainstays as The Wallflowers, The Jayhawks, Frank Turner and Old 97’s, Trapper will take to the road again with Osborne in 2025. Others serve as the birthplace of many new stars, formed by the gravitational pull of gas and radiative push of their first stars. Some nebulae even act as both. Join us as we explore nebulae and their role in star formation, and of course, look at many breathtaking pictures.

Panamanian-born percussionist Carlos Adames leads the group, drawing from his encyclopedic knowledge of the rhythms of the world in his compositions and performance. Tony Ayala, a seasoned percussionist complements the rhythm section along with John P. Simons on the bass. Elias Holman gives the group its melodic voice, exploring the vast space of jazz and latin music both live and in his compositions.&nbsp;Mr. Adames was born into a musical family that inspired him and helped shape him as a musician, and he began playing the drums at the age of six. His South American and Caribbean roots combined with his understanding of contemporary and classical music make him a complete and skilled master musician. They traveled to Alaska for seasonal jobs, living in a small, secluded cabin. All the while, Wodtke observed and wrote, studying the curious characters who always seemed to hang their hats in her unsettled heart, whether they paid rent there or not.With years of drifting in her rearview mirror, Wodtke made their way back home to Riverwest. After the death of a close friend in 2018, she struggled to make music. It took time – and a heap of tenderness from friends and family – for her to pick up a guitar again. When she finally did, music became a raft – or maybe more like a submarine – through the strange wilderness of heartache and grief, loneliness and love, risk and abandon. Raised working-class Catholic on the Northwest side of Milwaukee, he took a semester in Ireland, and immediately began cutting classes to busk on Grafton Street in Dublin and hitchhike through the country, finding whatever gigs he could. Back stateside, he spent a couple years gigging in the Midwest before lighting out for Boston, where he returned to busking (this time in the subway) and coffeehouses. Small shows led to larger shows, which eventually led to regional and then national and international touring. The wheels have not stopped since.Nineteen records, an illustrated book, thousands of live performances, a TEDx talk, a decades-long association with the National Youth Science Camp, opening for luminaries such as Ani DiFranco, Emmylou Harris, and Chuck Prophet, appearances on NPR, an annual autumn tour by bicycle, emceeing festivals, hosting his own boutique festival (the Lamplighter Sessions, in Boston and Wisconsin)… Mulvey never stops. He has built his life’s work on collaboration and an instinct for the eclectic and the vital. He folds everything he encounters into his work: poetry, social justice, scientific literacy, &amp; a deeply abiding humanism are all on plain display in his art.In late January 2020, Mulvey and his band, SistaStrings (Chauntee &amp; Monique Ross) with Nathan Kilen on drums, decamped to their home turf, the Cafe Carpe, in Fort Atkinson, WI where they spent just five days making two records in the tiny back room. What started as a professional shift quickly became a personal transformation, as he fell in love with the city’s vibrant music scene and creative spirit. Over the years, John has accomplished a great deal—both as a performer and as a mentor—but one goal continues to drive him: building and strengthening Milwaukee’s music community through meaningful collaboration. Whether on stage or behind the scenes, John remains committed to connecting artists, creating space for shared growth, and ensuring that music in Milwaukee thrives for generations to come. John is currently serving as a Voice Teacher at Mosaic Creative Studios in Brookfield, Teaching Artist with Kids From Wisconsin.
